# Grey Mirror Relationship Text Analysis Methodology

## What Grey Mirror measures

Grey Mirror processes exported message histories through a server-side analysis pipeline:

1. Parse and normalize supported exports while preserving sender order, timestamps, and message sequence.
2. Ask the user to confirm participant mapping when sender attribution is ambiguous.
3. Measure supported communication signals across timing, initiation, reciprocity, warmth, conflict, repair, silence, and change over time.
4. Combine metric drivers into report findings with confidence and limitation language.
5. Attach evidence references or narrower wording when the source record supports less certainty.

Implementation counts and internal model names are not public product claims. Public documentation focuses on behavior users can inspect and boundaries the service can substantiate.

## Why full-thread context matters

A screenshot can omit what happened before, what followed, whether the same sequence recurred, and whether repair held. An ordered export preserves the timeline needed to compare periods, recurrence, timing shifts, and follow-through.

## Evidence standards

- Strong claims should have metric drivers, confidence, limitations, and inspectable evidence references.
- Sparse, partial, or ambiguous exports should narrow the claim instead of manufacturing certainty.
- Participant mapping, timestamps, deleted messages, forwarded content, and off-thread events can materially affect confidence.
- A report score is not proof of motive, diagnosis, safety, fault, or future behavior.

## Privacy boundary

- Uploads are processed server-side and are not exposed through public static paths.
- Temporary processing files are removed after terminal job cleanup succeeds.
- Temporary upload-transfer pieces clear within 24 hours; the assembled upload and the stored original are kept until the user deletes the report.
- Nothing is deleted on a timer. Reports, processed messages and stored original uploads stay in the account until the user deletes the report or the account; deletion removes every stored copy.
- Complete raw transcripts and evidence excerpts are withheld from public external prose endpoints by default.
- Report inference does not update active model weights.
- Authenticated export and deletion controls are documented at https://thegreymirror.com/data-deletion.

## Product limits

Grey Mirror is interpretive relationship communication analysis. It is not therapy, diagnosis, legal advice, medical advice, crisis support, emergency assessment, or a lie detector. It cannot infer private motive, missing off-thread context, safety, or future outcomes with certainty.
