On a Mac there is no export step at all. Grey Mirror for Mac is a free native app that reads the Messages and Apple Mail conversations already on the machine: there is nothing to export by hand and nothing to find in Finder. Grant access once, pick a conversation from the list, and press Analyze. The thread is then sent to Grey Mirror for analysis, so the computation is not local-only; nothing is deleted on a timer, uploads and reports stay in the account until the user deletes them, and nothing sent is used to train models.

Grey Mirror runs on the web, on a free iPhone app, and on the free Mac app, with one account across all three. It works with iMessage, SMS, WhatsApp, Instagram DM and Telegram exports.
